In 1990, co-driver Tina Thörner and driver Louise Aitken-Walker made history by becoming the first ever FIA Ladies' World Rally Champions.
In 1999, she competed with driver Jutta Kleinschmidt in the Dakar Rally. Three days into the race after its fifth stage, Tina and Jutta were overall rally leaders. In the end, they finished third overall and were the first women to get a podium finish at the Dakar Rally.
Tina Thörner made history again in 2008 by winning the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup with Nasser Al-Attiyah becoming the first Middle Eastern man and European Woman to do so.
