Her father, Robert Gall (1918–1990), was a lyricist who wrote for Édith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. Her mother, singer Cécile Berthier (1921–2021), was the daughter of Paul Berthier (1884–1953), co-founder of the celebrated choir The Little Singers of Paris.
The only daughter of her family, Gall had two older brothers, twins Patrice and Philippe. She attended Lycée Paul Valéry, but abandoned her studies when she was required to repeat a grade after failing the previous year.
